Dr Jonathan Bowling FRCP
Jonathan Bowling is a Consultant Dermatologist. He has nearly 20 years experience in the field and was the skin cancer lead for Oxford and the past chair of the West Thames Valley specialist skin cancer MDT. His main interest is skin cancer diagnosis and treatment, and has pioneered the use of dermoscopy in the UK for mole screening and for the early diagnosis of melanoma.
Over 50% of British dermatologists and over 300 plastic surgeons have attended his courses in basic and advanced dermoscopy.
He has published and lectures extensively on skin cancer diagnosis, and is the author of the award winning textbook ‘Diagnostic Dermoscopy: The Illustrated Guide’ published by Wiley-Blackwell.
He was a faculty member of the recent XV World Congress on Cancers of the skin and is a faculty member of the forthcoming World Congress of the International Dermoscopy Society scheduled for 2018.
He has busy skin cancer screening clinics in London, Oxford and Banbury
Alexander Börve, is an orthopedic surgeon by trade. He is a researcher in the field of telemedicine and he has written several scientific publications on the use of smartphone technology and the skin.
In 2012 he completed the largest telemedicine study that looked at skin cancer detection, using a smartphone and a dermatoscope attachment. The study included over 1500 patients and showed that the technology could be an effective triage tool for the early detection of skin cancer.
In 2013 Alexander moved to San Francisco, USA to commercialise his research results. He runs the dermatology service First Derm and created a consumer dermatoscope called HÜD together with DermLite.
